In short, the term "regenerative agriculture" refers to farming practices that work towards restoring natural ecosystems, replenishing soil health, and fostering an unequivocal bond between farmers and every living organism in the farm system. Regenerative farmers are aware that the natural relationship between humans and the food that we produce is lost in the industrial system and they see "the need to maximize desired biological relationships in the [farm] system", and thus they must "minimize the use of materials and practices which disrupt those systems" (Francis et al., 1986). In order to work around any unforeseen circumstances that may occur in regenerative farm system, farmers utilize their environment in order to solve issues just as nature would, as opposed to ruining soil integrity and wreaking havoc on ecosystems by introducing harmful pesticides and other unnatural additives.
